Heating & Air Conditioning FAQs
The most frequent cause of furnace issues is dirty filters. Airflow is impeded by dust and dirt, and if the filter becomes overly clogged, the heat exchanger overheats, shuts off prematurely, and your house doesn't warm up. Replace the filter if the blower is running but no heat is coming out. Additionally, a clogged filter contributes to soot accumulation on the heat exchanger, decreasing the furnace's efficiency and shortening its lifespan.
You should typically expect to pay between $2,500 and $8,000 for the entire cost of an air conditioner, including installation.
Although the HVAC system in most homes is made up of split heating and cooling units, there are high-efficiency hybrid options, such as heat pumps, for those who want just one unit to do the job. Heat pumps typically cost between $2,000 and $30,000, with installation fees included. This is significantly more expensive than the price of other HVAC systems. This is due to the fact that they combine heating and cooling and generally consume less energy, saving you money on your electricity and gas bills.
To troubleshoot your home AC unit, you can follow these steps:
- Check the thermostat settings to ensure it is set to cool and at the desired temperature.
- Verify that the circuit breaker for the AC unit is not tripped.
- Clean or replace the air filter if it's dirty or clogged.
- Inspect the outdoor unit for any debris or obstructions and clean it if necessary.
- Check the condensate drain line for clogs and clear them if needed.
If these steps don't resolve the issue, it's best to contact a professional HVAC technician for further diagnosis and repair.

Our AC system died on a Thursday, during the hottest week of the summer. Called around to 4-5 different dealers and no one could come out for 4-5 weeks. That night, I received a call from Kenny from Mr. Heating & Cooling, explained my problem and that I had a house full of company coming in the following Thursday and we need AC. He said he would be out the next day. He came out and assessed the situation and told me he'd call me that night with estimates and that he could start work on Monday. He followed thru with all of his promises and his prices came in under what the competition had quoted me. He replaced my outdoor AC unit, coil and furnace, all of which was 20 years and older. He did a fantastic job, cleaned up nicely and my guest were very happy that we had AC for them. Thank you Kenny for a job well done!

Went out to a residential home to provide annual fall maintenance on the customer's furnace. I checked all the filters, cleaned the unit, and checked the system's function. The system was running well for now, but I did share with the customer that the furnace was showing signs of age and was probably going to need to be replaced in the next year or two. The customer was thankful for the maintenance. We will continue to monitor the system.
